“Musical Ghosts, Manitoba’s Jazz and Dance Bands, 1914-1966”
by Owen Clark

will be released in March 2008.

A wonderful historical narrative accompanied by 430+ pictures of Manitoba’s musicians, singers, nightclubs, theatres, music stores and the dance halls at Winnipeg Beach, Grand Beach, Neepawa, Clear Lake, Brandon, Kenosee Lake, SK and Temple Gardens in Moose Jaw, SK. Only 24 of the pictures are from a publicly held archive. The rest are new to Winnipeg.

Beautifully designed by Tom Powell Design Studio and printed by Friesens.

A percentage of each book sold will be donated to the Lupus Society Of
Manitoba, Inc. for research.

Owen Clark

Owen is a drummer, vocalist, percussionist, bass player, composer, historian, author and radio announcer. He graduated from McGill University in 1971 and from Moorhead State University in 1974.

Owen played his first “gig” in Winnipeg in 1956. Currently he performs with the Owen Clark Band, the Owen Clark Big Band, the Ragtime Strutters and the Owen Clark Jazz Group. He also freelances with many bands, singers and performing groups in the Winnipeg area.
